Secure web and e-mail services by storing your digital identity on a smart card.
flyer2.gif (16431 bytes)Within the Internet marketplace, businesses large and small, can work closer with suppliers and be more responsive to customers. The types of services that can be delivered on the World Wide Web range from electronic commerce and homebanking, to intranet/extranet and e-mail. Before there can be a broad based acceptance of these activities however, network security is required to build the necessary user confidence and provide the protection businesses and individuals need. With GemSAFEÔ , Gemplus delivers an easy-to-use smart card-based solution to secure your network transactions.
GemSAFE combines a smart card and a reader with advanced software to deliver an easy-to-use solution for securing Web site access and the exchange of email through Microsoft and Netscape Internet and e-mail suites. arrow.gif (949 bytes) "Using GemSAFE, we can offer our users certified public keys for message authentication and verification of identity." – Rama Ramanathan, Senior Technical Consultant, Unisys Corp.

You're Sure it's Secure

The latest standards for web access (SSL3) and e-mail (S/MIME) allow interoperability for security services between web browsers and servers, and between e-mail clients.

GemSAFE integrates seamlessly with these protocols and offers the highest level of security for storing your personal identity.

GemSAFE stores and secures your digital identity to prevent misuse and fraud. This is possible because smart cards ensure confidentiality of transactions with a series of encrypted keys that protect information on the card. Using public-key cryptography, smart cards keep confidential information stored in a safer manner within the card than on a PC, which is vulnerable to hackers. PIN (Personal Identification Number) codes ensure proper identification while the microprocessor on the card carries out user authentication.

This will allow more people to use smartcard technology for signing and encrypting email, as well as to create new applications for security on the internet. GemSafe promotes the goals of the ImagineCard alliance between Gemplus and Hewlett-Packard." - Joe Gersch R&D Manager, HP Smart Card Center.
